A 350 acre park flanked on one side by the Mississippi and by the lovely St Charles Avenue on the other, Audubon Park is a beautiful, lush green lung space. It began life as a plantation and figured prominently in the American Civil War. It was later developed as an urban park and serves as a wonderful place of peace and solace. Lush greenery, abundance of a variety of trees, walking paths, and picnic areas are all part of the park. Towards the river is the Audubon Zoo with over 2000 animals including gorillas, orangutans, as well as swamp staple, the alligator. One of the most exotic exhibits is the Komodo dragon, a large lizard from the Indonesian island of Komodo.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
