There is no better place to learn the Italian language than Genoa. The sense of distance makes it hard to learn a new and exotic language in one’s hometown. It’s so much easier to pick up the nuances of a new language when one is steeped in the history and culture of the country in question. Of course, there is no dearth of language schools in Italy, but most schools in bigger cities such as Rome and Venice are frighteningly expensive. Add to this the cost of living, and you have a prohibitive sum in no time. Genoa, by virtue of being a smaller city, provides the perfect base to pick up the Italian language. Needless to say, it also provides multiple opportunities to practice the newly acquired language. People are patient and friendly and the atmosphere is never intimidating.
