Some names of Local Spitian food dishes are: Tsampa, Thukpa, churpe, buckwheat chiltas. Momos or steamed dumplings are incredibly delicious everywhere in Spiti.
The villagers can be enquired about the very healthy ’seabuckthorn’ juice and jam which is locally called ‘Tsetsalulu’. Seabuckthorn is a highly nutritious wonder berry grown in the Himalayas, and drinks made from it are a rare specialty. Bottles of locally made Seabuckthorn products can be bought at Spiti Ecosphere’s office in Kaza. Butter tea, a Tibetan delicacy, is often served in the higher reaches of the village, and though it might not be immediately likeable, it must be tried at least once! Salt tea is consumed mostly in the winters as it is warm and is locally called cha-cha.
