Visit Oslo—the capital city of Norway, and one of the safest and most expensive cities in Europe, it offers tourists the perfect combination of city life surrounded by stunning natural beauty. Dating back to about 1000 AD, the city’s rich heritage is reflected in its architecture which is reminiscent of its Viking roots, and the co-existence of the old with the new lends the city a unique character that is all its own. The best way to discover the city is on foot—everything is within walking distance—and there are countless museums and other cultural attractions to take in. Surrounded by beautiful green hills with the blue waters of the Oslo fjord at its heart, Oslo is spread out over an area of about 450 sq km, and has the smallest population of any European city. Once you’ve explored the urban centre, move outwards and indulge in a plethora of adventure activities ranging from hiking and cycling, to sailing, and skiing.
