MOB (Mad Over Beer) is India’s first Belgian beerhouse, launched by restaurateur Vikas Passary, Chalapathi Raju, an IT entrepreneur and Vinay Patwari, a CA by profession. It positions itself as a quiet watering hole to nurse your craft beer and converse in peace, as the decibel level of the music won’t be ear-shattering!
Decor
Modern and minimalist is the credo. The sculpture at the entrance is recycled from scrap, and indoors, there is an interplay of stone, wood, steel and glass. Two entire walls are glass facades, with a view to the rain-fed, green KBR Park. We loved especially the ice-frosted taps with a steel finish, and its special pressure and temperature points to pour out your beer. There is protocol followed in the beer glasses to serve different beer and its rinsing methods too.
Finally, we try the rare-edition Westmalle Dubbel, (Rs 750) a reddish-brown Trappist beer, with a more robust, mature herby-fruity flavour, accompanied by a bite of the equally robust Tandoori Murgh Burger. There is, surprisingly, a good choice of desserts. We tried the Fruity Beer Tart (light and fizzy beer custard tart with peaches topping), Kahlua Crème Brulee (have had better) and Mortal Chocolate, a rich dark chocolate cake.
Plus & Minus
For the premium-end beer imported from Belgium, pricing is quite competitive. Lets hope it stays that way!
Must Try
Drink: Witte, Divine, Westmalle Dubbel
Food: Hari Mahi Tikka, Mirchi Bhajji, Kulcha Chole and Tandoori Murgh Burger.
Summing Up Belgian Beer promises to cheer!
