The Basement

The basement of Hotel Samilton has been turned into a pub realistically named The Basement. A fairly recent addition to the city's nightspots, this 80-seater pub has a glass-door entrance from the main road, which is quite clever as in-house guests won't be disturbed by those heading to the pub. On entering you'll find it dim, cluttered and loud, with no control over the crowd profile. Where liquors and spirits are concerned, their bar has all pouring liquor brands while the food menu features Indian, Chinese and Continental fare. They have focused on live performances as the main crowd-puller here, and combine classic and contemporary with every talent troupe in town. To attract better and more performers and bands, an upgraded and modern sound system and acoustics will go a long way to establish Basement as the place for live entertainment.
