Banana Discotheque is slightly off the main Bangala Road hot spot, but still keeps up with the big club names in terms of partying. The massive light up banana and statement bamboo out the front of the building grabs the eye and pulls punters in to the tropical party inside. The decor continues as fake trees and tiki statues cover the walls, making revellers feel as if they are dancing away inside a hidden cave in a tropical island.Entrance fee is 200 Baht per person, but this includes a drink once inside. The cover charge keeps a lot of the riffraff out too, so you won’t be bothered by ladies of the night or pesky lady boys.
The dance floor is sizeable and you won’t find any go-go dancers here, well at least not paid ones! The dance floor is always full of others burning up the dance floor to the resident DJs playing house, trance, electro, and top 100 pop tunes.
Once you’ve burnt yourself out on the dance floor, head outside to the bar. Chairs and tables are provided to relax and watch the crowded street go by. The bar is well stocked, and offers a happy hour each day, with discounts on beers, cocktails and mixed drinks.
Why Go? This tiki-esque bar is fun, friendly and clean. There is plenty of room to dance to consistently good music.
