Word to the wise: Jump on the cable car in the park at the bottom of the hill and see breathtaking views of the city and Montjuïc.

Montjuïc is a broad, low hill in the southwestern corner of Barcelona that is the leafy home of several of the city's most famous sights: 17th century fortresses; Poble Espanyol, the Spanish village created for the 1929 International Exposition; and the Olympic Stadium and Tower.
The 173-metre-tall hill, whose name translates to 'Jew Hill', is the city's largest green area. It has a rich and storied history as the settlement for the Iberian Celts several thousand years ago, and is also the site of one of the last 17th century fortresses, Castell de Montjuïc, which is now a military museum.

Don't leave without visiting Palau Nacional, a stunning building that houses the National Art Museum of Catalonia, or the majestic fountain in front of the building.
