Noteworthy for: Because ships used to be pulled through Yaletown on their way to the docks, the streets here are much wider, with a high concentration of restaurant patios and spacious sidewalks.

Once a loading area for ships coming into False Creek, Yaletown covers the triangle between Pacific Boulevard, Seymour Street and Georgia Street. This maze of converted warehouses and trendy lofts speckled with historic street furniture (like the decommissioned Yaletown Caboose) is where many top labels and upcoming designers have opened their Vancouver stores, with most shopfronts on Mainland and Hamilton Streets. The area is also popular with young professionals who see Yaletown as Vancouver's equivalent of New York's Greenwich Village.

Aside from the myriad bars and restaurants, there are dozens of lovely boutiques, such as women's fashion stores Basquiat, Exposure and Fine Finds, and luxury tea specialists Teaja. Particularly well-populated with menswear stores including Brooklyn Clothing Co. and Mavi Jeans, Yaletown is definitely the city's metrosexual hub.
