Precious Rongmei likes to tell people that she loves travelling – a lot. If only it's done solo, don't have to pack more than two pairs of clothes, won’t keep her away from her cat for too long, and come with loads of birding and butterfly watching opportunities. She's awkwardly passionate about true crime documentaries, gardening, carpentry and souvenirs. In that order.
The Chambal River Gorge is located in the state of Madhya Pradesh in central India. Flowing through a narrow gorge in the Vindhya and Satpura mountain ranges, the Chambal river forms a natural boundary between the states of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Apart from its natural beauty and wildlife, the Chambal River Gorge also has a rich cultural heritage. One of the most striking tourist attractions here is the Garadia Mahadev Temple (Kota, Rajasthan). The view of the Chambal river and the gorge from the temple is a sight to behold. The 16th century Chambal Fort is another major attraction in the region.
The Chambal River Gorge might not be as popular a destination as the state’s national parks and heritage sites, but for those who love the offbeat and adventure, this is a great destination. Think of adventure activities such as river rafting, kayaking, and camping.
