On this note, let’s find out the interesting tale of how old yurts entered the world of contemporary travels?
Mongolian connection
Yurts have been around long since Mongolian nomads started roaming the Central Asian steppes. Round, cosy, and easy to install and transport, yurts made great homes for the nomads. Most were/are rudimentary, though there were luxurious ones too — like Genghis Khan’s.Genghis Khan and yurt
Despite conquering half the world’s palaces, Genghis never left his yurt. He even travelled to war in his yurt. Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, still has a Ger District, where over 70,000 people live in their traditional yurts. But it isn’t Ulaanbaatar that made yurts popular. Or Genghis Khan. In Europe and the US, yurt has become popular among contemporary travellers. The first reason was travellers demanding unique experiences — they had seen enough hotel rooms and cabins. The second was the shift from camping to glamping — people wanted the camping feel but with luxury!
Yurts also became popular among people who wanted to live off-grid. There are several informative TV shows where yurts are shown extremely fashionable.
Unique concept
Yurt interiors can also be customised as per your needs. They range in size from around 300 sq ft to 800+ sq ft. This means you could have anywhere from 1 to 3-4 rooms within the yurt to suit your need, double occupancy for family occupancy!

Yurts are the fastest and cleanest way to expand for the hospitality industry. Yurts can add inventory in just days without disrupting their existing business. Yurts are also ideal in eco-sensitive zones where permanent construction is regulated.
And whatever travellers love, the hospitality industry always does, too.
