Often described as Chennai’s only heritage hotel, this beautiful Art Deco building was started shop in 1854 as the Imperial Hotel. It was later renamed Albany and finally as The Connemara in 1890. Now, it has 145 plush rooms and 5 luxury suites, with a few special eco-friendly Earth rooms. Recreation facilities include an extensive range of Ayurvedic massages, aromatherapy and beauty treatments at the Taj Spa and Salon, a swimming pool and 24 hour fitness centre, and a concierge to plan your holiday. Guests can choose from the stylish Hip Asia restaurant for pan-Asian fare, the multi-cuisine diner Verandah and the popular watering hole Distil. However, the feather in the hotel’s culinary cap is undoubtedly The Raintree, an open-air restaurant known for its lip-smacking Chettinad cuisine. There’s more: over 7850 sq ft of space for meetings and weddings.
