Experiences you can only have in Andamans and Nicobar islands
Andaman and Nicobar islands are a perfect choice for a memorable holiday for those looking for a tropical escape in India. The pretty islands are renowned for their endless stretches of turquoise waters, white sand beaches and lush green tropical forests. The marine reserves here are absolutely stunning as well.
The Andamans are home to some of the most stunning islands in the country, including Swaraj and Saheed Dweep (Havelock and Ross islands). Both the islands are a paradise for water sports lovers as well.
On that note, let’s take a look at some of the unique experiences you can only have in the Andamans.
Plan a day trip to Barren Island
Barren Island is the only place with an active volcano in the Indian subcontinent! The island is uninhabited and barren but day-excursions can be planned with due permission.
Spend a day at the Chidiya Tapu
A lesser- known attraction in the Andamans, Chidiya Tapu or Sunset Point or Bird Island offers the best sunset views. The island is set at a distance of about 30 km from Port Blair.
A trip to Cellular Jail
Also known as Kala Pani, the Cellular Jail is a prominent attraction in the Andamans. This historic jail is known to have notable activists as prisoners, including Veer Savarkar, Yogendra Shukla, Shiv Verma and Batukeshwar Dutt, among others.
Discover the mangrove at Mayabunder
Close to Havelock Island, there’s a whole world of rich mangroves. In a kayak, this is a 2.5 hour journey that is refreshing and allows visitors to explore the rich diversity of the mangroves.
Explore the Limestone Caves in Baratang Island
Caves are mysterious and if you enjoy some mysteries, you must head to the Limestone Caves in Baratang Island. These caves are formed by massive sediment rock and are just a 30-minutes ride from the Baratang Island on a ferry.
Snorkelling with sea creatures
Snorkelling is another favoured activity in the Andamans. People from all over visit here to enjoy snorkelling with the colourful fish and other sea creatures.
Sea walking at Swaraj Dweep (Havelock)
This island is beautiful beyond imagination. It offers some amazing adventurous experiences unlike any other place. Visitors can enjoy sea walking at 15 to 25 ft under the sea and experience the magical world of coral reefs of the Andamans.
Scuba diving
Scuba diving is one of the best things to do in the Andamans. Travellers often visit Andaman and Nicobar islands to experience marine life that you don’t get to see anywhere else in India. A number of scuba diving schools facilitate those who are interested in learning the skill.
