However, this age-old restaurant, built in 1834 by John Stone, has been in the news for being haunted as well. In fact, a few psychics have marked this restaurant as the home of several spirits for years. Reportedly, the current assistant manager of the restaurant refuses to spend nights at the inn here. According to him, while he was working once, a handful of birdseeds fell from the holes in the ceiling out of nowhere; an incident that lefthim all spoked evidently.

Marsden Grotto Restaurant, England


Located in England’s coast town of South Shields, the Marsden Grotto Restaurant is one of the cave bars that deserves to be experienced by travellers for its ambience and food. But then, this English pub, carved out of a cliff face, is known to be haunted for years now. It is believed that the restaurant-cum-pub is being haunted by John the Jibbler, who was reportedly murdered by other smugglers in this place. Diners visiting this restaurant have often reported sightings of ashtrays flying into or smashing against the walls!

Buma Inn, China


The Buma Inn in Beijing is famous for its in-house dining venue, also famous for offering some of the most delectable Chinese food in the city. However, this restaurant also attracts a huge number of visitors since it is rumoured to be haunted by the spirit of a diner, who was reportedly poisoned by the once-head-chef of the restaurant! According to the legends, the head chef stabbed himself to death thereafter. But then, it is believed that the diner’s spirit still haunts the restaurant and the inn, looking for the head chef in order to seek out revenge.

Nottingham Road Hotel, Restaurant and Pub, South Africa


Known for its spirited and vibrant environment by the day, Nottingham Road Hotel, Restaurant and Pub, is a rugby pub hangout that is quite popular among travellers who visit the town of Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa. However, this place is reported to turn into a place of hauntings by a woman named Charlotte, who is said to have been once involved with a soldier and died in this place. Guests living at the hotel and diners coming in for a meal at the restaurant have often reported seeing the woman haunting the place as a translucent apparition.

Poogan’s Porch, US


This quaint restaurant in South Carolina city’s Charleston neighbourhood has been famous for its country cuisine and has always attracted travellers to dine in. Established in 1976, this historic restaurant is also a prey to hauntings by the rumoured ghost of Zoe St. Armand who is reportedly sighted wandering the space in a black dress. The general manager of the restaurant has been quoted as saying that the woman is often seen in the front dining room looking for her sister.
