From the owners of acclaimed Chicago restaurant Ruxbin, comes their sassy little sister restaurant, Mott Street. Mott Street serves a range of Asian street-food inspired treats. Needless to say the food is delicious. The plates are shareable, and come in good portions, so you can pick a few things to taste. Although they have a definite Asian flavour, dishes definitely have a fusion slant, creating interesting combinations. Dishes like grilled short ribs, eggs, kimchi and potato hash, and kimchi and oaxacan empanadas are hearty and comforting but definitely not your usual Asian cuisine. Other crowd favourites include the Szechuan pepper shrimp ($16) and the stuffed cabbage ($19), plus the ricotta doughnut holes for dessert. The bartenders here are top notch, and know how to shake a good cocktail, so if you’re feeling adventurous sample one of their seasonal specialties. Surprisingly, Mott Street also serves brunch, whipping up Asian favourites like congee and boat noodles, plus brunch regulars like avocado on toast, granola and French toast.
