Gracious and grand, Royal China is 16 floors above the city, with a splendid view of the Bahai Temple. Inside, the gold and black interiors are reminiscent of a similar place in Singapore or Hong Kong. Even the tableware is golden and royal. The best part about Royal China is the food, particularly the excellent dim sums. Whatever else you do, do not miss the fried rice: it is the most authentic in the city, and the only place where you'll get better is in the Chinese speaking world! Between Peking Duck and Deep Fried Duck, the restaurant's own signature is the latter. A witty, delicious take on the Beijing classic, it is complete with pancakes (superb) and sweet bean sauce. Steamed Chicken with Mushrooms and Green Beans is simple. Excellent, informed service and great views.
