Tamarind Hill Indian Restaurant

It is in the nature of Indians to travel abroad and look for the best restaurants serving desi food. Indian cuisine in Zurich is often synonymous with Tamarind Hill, a charming place serving sumptuous butter chicken, rogan josh, vindaloo and naan. Unlike most other Indian restaurants that rely on gaudy embellishments like elephant-printed wall hangings, earthen pots and bright lamps to bring out the exotic essence of their establishment, Tamarind Hill has classy and modern interiors. The servers, however, are all dressed up in shiny sarees and crisp kurtas and seem to have perfected the ‘Namaste’. The background music is equally Bollywood-y. If you prefer the sun, there are nice wooden tables that look out into the street. The presentation of the food is neat and thrives on minimalism and a chef like Gordon Ramsay would definitely approve of this place.
As expected of Indian restaurants, there are a number of vegetarian and vegan names on the menu. Don't be surprised to see the mention of a luscious pot of chocolate fondue in Tamarind's selection of desserts. You're in Switzerland, after all. It is not the cheapest restaurant in Zurich but is certainly one of the best.
