A recently opened street food place in Via dei Banchi Vecchi 143, set between Campo de’ Fiori and Piazza Navona, Supplizio serves the most famous Roman street food such as perfectly made supplì, which are fried croquettes made of rice in a tomato sauce. These are further mixed with eggs and cheese, stuffed with mozzarella and then battered and fried. Other specialties include crema fritta, a cream made of pecorino, cinnamon and sugar that is battered and deep fried; and frittata di maccheroni (pasta fritters). The ambiance here is casual and relaxed. Prices here are in line with those of Rome. The only downside is that it is closed on Sundays.
