Hiroshima’s gift to the world, Okonomiyaki is a savoury pancake like no other. Loaded with meat, eggs, noodles, cheese, seafood, vegetables, and local condiments, this crepe is extremely healthy and delicious at the same time. Who knew that its popularity would grow so much that an entire theme park in the city would end up being dedicated to this delicacy? Okonomi-mura is not a restaurant, but an elaborate food village with twenty six eateries that are devoted to this wholesome snack. Packing everything from authentic Japanese ingredients to Korean and Chinese flavours (think Kimchi), you can choose a counter for yourself and get lost in the maze of spicy, sweet, sour and salty elements. Interestingly, all of these establishments add a special Okonomiyaki sauce into the fare that they serve and it has been whipped up by the brand ‘Sun Foods,’ especially for the theme park.
