Long known as the last of the old-time beer gardens in New York City, Bohemian Hall attracts crowds to its sprawling garden, especially on sunny afternoons. Its friends aren't only fair-weather, however, as the yard is open all year round. Czech crepes, whether a savoury variety known as palacinka (stuffed with chicken, Muenster, spinach and mushrooms) or sweet (with strawberries), and brynzové, a homemade potato pasta served with traditional Slovak sheep cheese, are interesting menu choices. Bratwurst and burgers are always available from the outdoor grill. Bohemian Hall also serves as a community centre for the Czech and Slovak set, offering cultural events and classes for kids. Those who drink Krusovice Dark fit right in.
