The history of the restaurant goes back to 1950, when it started as a small coffee shop at Shyambazar 5 Point Crossing by Khullar brothers. Decades later, Amber not only has outlets at Esplanade and Park Street Area, but is also rated as one of the renowned north Indian restaurants in Kolkata. Situated in the heart of the city, the restaurant has been visited by famous personalities like Indira Gandhi, Jyoti Basu and even Amitabh Bachchan. All the credit for its popularity goes to the incredible food served here. The kebab platter among the starters is just to die for. Choose from murgh malai kebab, murgh seekh kebab or murgh tikka Peshawari—all are amazing. Fish lovers can try mahi malai kebab and jhinga tandoori while those who love mutton can savour delicacies like gosht seekh kebab and gosht reshmi kebab. Main course dishes are equally sumptuous, such as nargisi kofta and murg bharta. If you thought that Amber is all about non-vegetarian delights then hold on vegetarians too have ample options like pindi chana, jeera aloo, malai kofta kesari and paneer shabnam, among many others. Finish the meal with delicious desserts such as kulfi malai, tutti frutti and sundae.
