Unlike other items that come with the Mysore prefix, there’s nothing very unique or different in the coffee served in Mysore except for the ‘by-two’ concept and that it has to be the filter variety. No new fangled instant coffee will make the cut here. Mysoreans believe coffee is the time for meeting and sharing and hence the evolution of the by-two coffee. But having said that, there are places where you can relish the brew. Needless to say, it has to be frothy, aromatic, steaming and served in stainless cup and dabara combination for the best experience. You can head to the restaurant inside Hotel Siddhartha in Nazarbad for possibly the best coffee in town. And for a really old world feel to coffee time, the place to be is Hotel Dasaprakash where the décor, furniture and ambience are from another era that bring into mind, snatches from RK Narayan’s creations.
