Wuhan in China finally becomes Coronavirus free after months of struggle

Wuhan in China, the epicentre of the deadly Coronavirus that has taken the world by storm, has finally become a COVID-19 free city after months of struggle. The city, on Sunday, discharged the last virus patient, a 77-year-old man who tested negative for the virus. The virus that emerged in Wuhan in the month of December last year became a pandemic in no time and, today, the whole world is fighting against the invisible enemy.

The global Coronavirus pandemic that first began in the central Chinese city of Wuhan months back, left the city devastated. Today, it has no COVID-19 cases. This happened after more than three months of strenuous battle against the virus that, as per official data, has infected more than 3 million people worldwide and more than 80000 in mainland China.
Wuhan on Sunday cleared all COVID-19 cases in hospitals and shared the good news. It was made possible with the hard work of healthcare workers in Wuhan and medical teams sent from across the country.

This is a milestone for China and Wuhan, considering this is the city where the pandemic was first reported. Shang You, a doctor in Wuhan said, "it is a historic day. We have been waiting for this day for so long."
While Wuhan was fighting the battle against the virus, around 56 million people in Hubei province were forced to stay inside for their own safety. But on April 8, the lockdown was lifted and people were allowed to carry out their businesses. Soon, the residents were seen on roads and travelling to nearby tourist attractions giving the world a ray of hope.

As per official data, 211,792 people have died worldwide due to the Coronavirus and the number seems to be rising day by day.
