To make things easy for devotees and visitors at the on-going Kumbh Mela, the government is doing almost everything possible. Recently, the Union Earth Sciences Minister, Harsh Vardhan launched a special Kumbh Mela Weather Service app for the event. Four Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) were set up to make this happen.
These are installed at Delhi Public School, Allahabad University, G B Panth Institute of Social Science and Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS) in Allahabad city.
During the app launch, the minister was quoted saying, “The real time location specific weather information will be very helpful for the local and state authorities in the efficient management of the entire event”.
This is the first time that the government is using technology to control and manage such a big religious event in India. in addition to these, the state government has also installed virtual reality (VR) kiosks at various places for the convenience of the devotees and visitors. These kiosks will enable them to witness the grand Ganga aarti and shahi snan in 3D format, a feat that sounds phenomenal.
