On the outskirts of the Polish capital Warsaw, through which the Vistula flows, stands an impressive and expansive royal palace called Wilanow. Built in the 17th century, it stands on sprawling grounds with manicured lawns in front and beautifully laid Italian-style baroque gardens around it. The palace is supposed to have passed through several royal families and into private hands before becoming a national treasure in the mid 20th century. It is predominantly Baroque and golden-yellow hued with green towers. The palace has a rich collection of royal artefacts and paintings. The interiors are done in luxurious red and gold, forming the perfect backdrop for the display of exquisite crockery and cutlery, furniture, weapons, jewellery, stunning portraits, paintings and sculptures.
