The Chief Minister was in Digha to inaugurate the one-of-its-kind Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in Digha, the foundation stone of which was laid in 2017. The centre was built to host exhibitions and international conventions, along with business meets to promote tourism and commerce in this region.
Referring to this, the Chief Minister mentioned that the tourists will soon have an attraction like Jagannath Temple, where the idols will be as large as those of Puri’s. Mamata urged tourists to visit Digha, stating that the beach town has now transformed into an attractive destination. She also stated it clearly that the government was focussing on this place to develop it into a major tourist spot in Bengal after the state’s effort to make Darjeeling an attractive destination failed because of political turmoil.
