Bangalore, first it was nicknamed as 'Garden city of India' and then came coveted 'Silicon valley of India'. With a number of places to visit near Bangalore, now we have a new name 'The Cycling Capital of India' (with Pune trying to catch up). If you venture out on an early weekend morning, coming across hordes of cyclists on the roads (especially on the outskirts of Bangalore) is a common sight not to forget the monthly 'Cycle Day' events. Though cycling has gathered speed in the last couple of years to catch up with the west, the concept of bicycle touring is still in its nascent stage. There is a bit of gap as well between riding longer distances around the city and then jumping to multi-day bicycle touring in India. If you are looking to bridge the gap with weekend rides on the countryside (be it with a support vehicle or not), here are a few weekend destinations for you ranging from mountain climbs to riding to waterfalls or long distance rides. It doesn't matter if you are new to cycling. Pick your destination based on your comfort, pack your bags and head out to enjoy the nature in slow motion.
