New Kannur airport – travellers to get better access to Mysuru and Kodagu

The new Kannur Airport, which is a greenfield airport in Kerala is expected to surge tourist footfall as it will soon be inaugurated for operations. Mysuru and Kodagu tourism is expected to flourish especially, because Kudagu is closer to Kannur, taking a little more than three hours to travel. This would also spell better connectivity between the two states.

Tourists coming to Mysuru and Madikeri can now very easily make use of the Kannur airport instead of Bengaluru’s Kampegowda International Airport. To help tourist growth in Mysuru, authorities of the airport have also invited Mysuru Travels Association to take a tour of the Kannur airport.

The Mysuru Travels Association President B.S. Prashanth said in a statement that operators will be travelling to Kannur to check out the airport facilities. He further reaffirmed the hopes that Kodagu could become the new transit zone to Mysuru, as tourists could fly to Kannur now instead of Bengaluru.
Also, now the new airport would also be a boon for tourists that are visiting Wayanad and Ooty. Kannur is also about 70 km away from Virajpet, and 120 km from Mysuru. The new Kannur airport will also aid in traffic-less travel, as previously people driving from Bengaluru had to face congested traffic on the way. Then again, the traffic volume increases during weekends that take a lot more travel time from Bengaluru to Mysuru.

Mysore tourism can definitely benefit from the new Kannur International Airport, and travellers can finally get some peace of mind.
