Vizag's most beautiful sights to inspire winter travel
Visakhapatnam, often referred to as Vizag, is a coastal city you need to explore if you are interested in an offbeat yet unforgettable holiday. It is renowned for its natural beauty and diverse landscapes, and more people these days are planning their holidays in this coastal city instead of the usual big names like Goa and Mumbai. Reason being, the city is still offbeat and has attractions like beaches, caves and forested areas that see very less tourist footfall.
Explore the city’s gems this winter and find yourself talking about these for a long time.
Rushikonda Beach
Vizag’s Rushikonda Beach is one of the 13 Blue Flag certified beaches in India, and the only one in the state. This beach is definitely Andhra’s pride. The beach is very well-maintained and offers some of the best beach experiences in India along with stunning sunset views and a taste of local cuisine and culture.
Ramakrishna Beach
Visit this iconic beach for some fun beach activities like water sports, a visit to the Ramakrishna Ashram located nearby, and the one-of-a-kind submarine museum. R.K. Beach (Ramakrishna Beach) is very popular among both locals and tourists.
Borra Caves
This is not exactly in Visakhapatnam, but around 90 km from the city. Located in the Ananthagiri Hills, Borra Caves are natural limestone caves that are very popular among cave goers. Check out the stunning stalactite and stalagmite formations inside the cave. The cave is well-lit and has proper paths to walk on.
Araku Valley
Araku Valley is a scenic hill station located near Visakhapatnam. This pretty destination is one of the prettiest gems in the Eastern Ghats. Visit this place to experience the unique tribal culture and the peaceful surroundings.
Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary
This wildlife sanctuary is located on the outskirts of Visakhapatnam and is one of the best options for a holiday surrounded by nature. There are scenic hiking trails that take visitors through dense vegetation.
Dolphin's Nose
Dolphin's Nose is a prominent rocky hill on the coastline that offers panoramic views of the Bay of Bengal. Visitors can visit Dolphin’s Nose daily from 3 PM to 5 PM.
Simhachalam Temple
The Simhachalam Temple is one of the most significant religious sites in Visakhapatnam. The temple is dedicated to Narasimha and is most famous for its unique architecture.
Yarada Beach
Yarada Beach is known for its clean and golden sand. This is an offbeat beach so expect not too big a crowd. Beachgoers can just sit back and relax and enjoy the unrushed beach experiences.
