Kumbh Mela 2019: IRCTC to serve special food to Pravasi Bharatiya Divas delegates

IRCTC (Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation) is trying to do their best to make India’s one of the biggest events, the Ardha Kumbh Mela, a huge success. This time, the Indian Railways will be serving a wide range of delicious Indian meals to all the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas delegates travelling in trains. The two-meal (dinner and breakfast) arrangements are being done for the delegates, who’ll be travelling to Allahabad from Delhi.
Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is a 3-day-event that will commence on 21st January, 2019, and will end on 23rd January, 2019. It is a flagship event of the Indian government, and an important platform to engage and connect with people overseas. IRCTC will be taking special care of these delegates, offering them special trains to attend the Republic Day parade in Delhi.

According to the sources, the decision of serving special meals to delegates was taken by a high-level committee. The official mentioned that the menu would be kept simple and delegates would be given a taste of local cuisine. The delegates will be served dinner on 24th January, 2019, and breakfast for the next day in the train.
The food would include Allahabad’s famous guavas and gajar ka halwa for sure, along with some other seasonal food. The dinner menu includes paranthas, paneer masala, mixed vegetables, daal and rice. For desserts, there would be gajar ka halwa, chiki and gulab jamuns. The breakfast menu will have poha, upma and a few other south Indian dishes along with bread, butter and eggs.

As per the reports, around 3,000 meals are being prepared for the delegates by the Indian Railways, which will be served in pre-sealed cardboard packages.So yes, if you are in the country for Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, there is a lot in store for you.
