Cruise around the river – Tonle Sap in the heart of Cambodia is one of the largest freshwater lakes. The water bodies of Mekong River and Tonle Sap make ideal cruising getaways. Most of the river cruises start from the port in Phnom Penh. You can choose from a shorter cruise for one night to a week-long cruise passing through major parts of Tonle Sap. The water level in Tonle Sap is always questionable during dry season, leading to changes in itinerary at the last moment. Nonetheless, taking a 3 night cruise along the lake is a great way to visit the beautiful countryside, and to get away from the usual hustle bustle of Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. Explore the ports of Kampong Chhnang, Chhlong, and Kratie while enjoying the scenic riverside. The river cruise will give you an opportunity to peek into the life of humble farmers and fishermen, for whom Tonle Sap provides livelihood. Pass by charming villages, lush green rice fields, and watch stunning sunsets from the comfort of the deck on the top. The cruise usually stops at stationed boats in the middle of floating villages. It is fascinating to see the life of people living in floating villages.
