Kumbhalgarh Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Aravalli Range in Rajasthan, India. It was built in the 15th century by Rana Kumbha, a ruler of the Mewar kingdom. The fort is renowned for its long, serpentine wall, which stretches for 36 kilometers and is believed to be the second longest continuous wall in the world, after the Great Wall of China.

The fort is situated at an elevation of 1,100 meters above sea level and offers spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. It was built using white marble and is home to several palaces, temples (over 70), and gardens. Some of the major attractions within the fort include the Kumbha Palace, the Badal Mahal (Palace of Clouds), the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, and the Vedi Temple. Needless to say, the Kumbhalgarh Fort complex is one of the largest fort complexes in the world.


Kumbhalgarh Fort is not only an architectural marvel but also has great historical significance. It played an important role in the history of Rajasthan and was the birthplace of Maharana Pratap, one of the most famous rulers of the Mewar kingdom.



Today, the fort is a popular tourist destination and is visited by thousands of people every year. It is also a popular venue for cultural events and festivals, including the annual Kumbhalgarh Festival, which celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan.


Kumbhalgarh Fort is one of the six hill forts in Rajasthan. Together, they are a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. The six hill forts are – Chittor Fort in Chittorgarh, Kumbhalgarh Fort in Rajsamand, Ranthambore Fort in Sawai Madhopur, Gagron Fort in Jhalawar, Amer Fort in Jaipur, and Jaisalmer Fort in Jaisalmer.
