‘Mumbai-Aurangabad-Nagpur’ circuit to be developed into a new tourism triangle

The Maharashtra Government is planning to develop the ‘Mumbai-Aurangabad-Nagpur’ tourism triangle in a move to attract more tourists. Speaking to the press, Tourism Principal Secretary Vijay Kumar Gautam said that the Mumbai-Aurangabad-Nagpur circuit will be promoted and developed on the lines of the Golden Triangle tourist circuit, i.e., the Jaipur-Delhi-Agra belt.

He also mentioned, “Despite being a large state, we still lag behind in terms of tourism though we have a long coastline, tiger safaris and naturally rich tourist destinations.” To implement this plan, a detailed project will be mapped out and global tenders will be distributed to facilitate the process.
The first thing that needs to be done for promoting Mumbai-Aurangabad-Nagpur triangle is upgrading the infrastructure and transport facilities in these cities as well as the near areas. As per the plan, once visitors reach Mumbai, they can head towards the Konkan coast and then proceed to Aurangabad.

The official further stated, “Apart from the Ajanta and Ellora caves (in Aurangabad), tourists can also visit the Ahmednagar Fort which is close by. They will also have the option of visiting the religious places in Ahmednagar district.” Gautam also mentioned that visitors, on the route, will get an opportunity to experience music, folk art, and cuisine.

The proposed Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway will further boost this plan when it becomes operational. It is also expected that the ‘Udaan’ scheme will be contributing in developing this tourism circuit.
