These Indian border towns are incredibly photogenic!
India, a country known for its diverse landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and varied geography, shares its borders with seven countries. From the majestic Himalayas in the north to the tropical beaches in the south, these border regions offer some of the most beautiful places in India. It’s important to note that each of these regions have their own charm, and they offer a unique blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and historical significance.
Here are some remarkable places from Indian borders:
Leh-Ladakh
Ladakh is one of the prettiest places to visit in India. Ladakh’s high mountain passes, serene monasteries, cold deserts, high-altitude lakes and barren yet impressive hills and valleys offer breathtakingly beautiful sceneries.
Rann of Kutch, Gujarat
This vast salt marsh is located in the Thar Desert, and is one of the most enchanting places you will see. Rann of Kutch on a full moon night is simply spectacular.
Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh
Tawang is one of the most beautiful border towns in Arunachal Pradesh. Tawang is known for its pristine landscapes, dense forests, and diverse tribal cultures.
Amritsar, Punjab
Wagah Border is located just 32 km from Amritsar, and just 3 km from Attari village. Here you get to see the daily Lowering of the Flag Ceremony that takes place on both sides of the border. Thousands of people from both sides – India and Pakistan – visit this site every day to witness the ceremony.
Dawki, Meghalaya
Just a short distance away from the India-Bangladesh border, Dawki is most famous for the crystal clear waters of Dawki River, mostly post monsoon season. Winter is the best time to visit this place. Here, the boats on the water look like they are floating in the air.
Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh
Kinnaur district is one of the prettiest districts in Himachal Pradesh. Here you will find destinations like Chitkul, Sangla and Kalpa, Reckong Peo to name some. These places are most famous for stunning mountain views and idyllic village living.
Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh
Nestled in the Himalayan mountains, Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain valley with stunning landscapes, ancient monasteries, and high mountain passes. The barren beauty of the region is mesmerising.
Dhanushkodi, Tamil Nadu
Located very close to Sri Lanka’s border (maritime border), Dhanushkodi, also known as the Ghost Town, is a semi-deserted town. During the Rameshwaram Cyclone of 1964, the entire town was destroyed, eventually leading to people deserting the town. Today, except for a few souvenir shops and what’s left of the broken town, the town is empty. This, however, does not mean that Dhanushkodi is not famous. It is one of the most visited places in Tamil Nadu.
