Cusco is a UNESCO world heritage site and is one of the more important cities of Peru. Designed by the mighty Incas, this capital city has an admirable stone architecture. And the Centro Historio or the hub of the city is an awe-inspiring place where one sees Colonial buildings standing right next to the Incan ruins. It’s like the coming together of two different worlds. The main square, Plaza de Armas is the heart of the Historic Centre of Cusco. It is dotted with beautiful churches, buildings and numerous restaurants. There is a big fountain and pretty parks too. Cobbled stone roads along with small alleys add to the charm of walking through the centre. The Historic Centre is the place where all the action takes place. It is the place where the whole town literally meets, i.e., tourists and locals alike. You will see bands playing music or dancers dressed in brightly coloured dresses performing on the streets. The walk around the surrounding area, which is car free, is truly magnificent. Be warned that souvenir vendors trying to sell their goods can sometimes be annoying. Carry your camera to catch some amazing shots of the people and of the view from the area.
