The Bronx Museum of the Arts

Specialising in contemporary art from diverse cultural backgrounds, The Bronx Museum of the Arts exhibits works in which the Bronx itself plays a central role. Admission is free. Summer highlights at the museum include Terence Gower: SuperPuesto (June 14–September 28), which showcases modernist designs for puestos—traditional Latin American market stalls. SuperPuesto is one part of the larger Beyond the Supersquare exhibition, which examines 20th century Latin American and Caribbean architecture's influence on contemporary art. Also of note—Michael Joo: Drift (Bronx)—a sculpture display that, according to the museum's official site, aspires to ‘help us to understand that eternity isn't some later time, nor is it a long time; rather it is that dimension of here and now which time itself obscures’ by using marble from Cameron's Line (a fault that runs north from New York City).
