The age of Instagram has seen a lot of people put up amazing pictures and give us travel goals, but at what cost? The newest place to spark backlash against travellers is Tenerife, the beautiful black-sand beach that is known for its towering stones.
According to reports, this trend started to gain momentum after there was a meditation event called the Harmonic Convergence in the US in 1987. Such towers were built during the event, and thus people started following suit all around the world. Some people coming here actually think it’s part of the Spanish culture, but in reality it is not, and it only makes it worse for the surrounding areas.
If nothing works, the final solution would be to legally ban tourists from visiting the place.
