The Temple of Literature is one of the most well-preserved examples of Vietnamese architecture and is one of the most famous historical places to visit in Hanoi. It was founded in 1070 as a university dedicated to Confucius. There’s a “Well of Heavenly Clarity” pond inside, as well as a pagoda and statues of Confucius. The entire complex honors Vietnam’s men of literary accomplishments and scholars.
The Temple of Literature is located south of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long. Another interesting thing about the Temple of Literature is that it’s featured on the back of the 100,000 Vietnamese dong note.
