This 15th century wooden structure is truly awe-inspiring. During the medieval era in China, the emperor was considered the ‘son of the god’ and the supreme authority. The emperor used to pray for good harvest and conducted imperial ceremonies at the Temple of Heaven. The enormous temple ground has a circular marble porch, the centre of which hosts the Hall of Prayer as the main building. This 3-tiered building is ornately decorated with wooden carvings, glazed with characteristic blue, red and maroon. The hall has been completely constructed of wood, without the use of even a single nail. Dark blue roof tiles inside the Hall of Prayer represent heaven. The grandeur of this structure can be witnessed right at the entrance of the main park. One can stroll around the park surrounding the temple complex, where locals can be spotted jogging or doing tai chi or some kind of fitness routine. The best time to visit the temple is around sunset, when most of the tour groups leave the temple complex, making it less crowded. Bright colours of this magnificent monument glowing under the evening sun make for a spectacular sight, a truly unforgettable experience!Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
