Barely 37 kilometers from Vadodara is situated the town of Borsad known for the temple dedicated to Lord Surya or the Sun God. Sun worship has been highly regarded as an important part of the day-to-day life since the Vedic Era. According to Hindu Pantheon, Sun God, if pleased with genuine worship, grants boons to relieve people of their physical maladies and ailments. Therefore, pilgrims come in large numbers from all over the world to seek divine grace rom the presiding deity of this temple. It is one of the few temples in India built in honour of the Sun God. Being such a significant center of pilgrimage possessing the capacity to accommodate several pilgrims, the Surya Temple provides ample scope for people to stay and eat in its residential apartments. The temple, however, houses the chambers of divine deities like Shri Vishnu, Lord Shiva and others.
