Located at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak Rivers, Jamek Mosque is the oldest mosque in Kuala Lumpur. Popularly known as Friday Mosque, It was the prime place of worship until the opening of National Mosque in 1965. The mosque was designed in an Indian Mughal style by a British architect. The Indo- Islamic architecture is a hallmark of British architect AB Hubback, who also designed several other structures around the same time in Malaysia. Read less

The Indo- Islamic architecture is a hallmark of British architect AB Hubback, who also designed several other structures around the same time in Malaysia. Beautiful brick building of Jamek Mosque is adorned with arches, minarets and three onion domes. The mosque can be visited during non prayer hours. It can be reached by foot from Masjid Jamek Station. Plan your visit on a non holiday, when it is relatively less crowded. The best view of Jamek Mosque can be captured from across the river. Visit the mosque during the day and enjoy the serenity in the central large prayer hall.
