While, the residents of Shimla are left with no option but to purchase water at high prices and wait in queues to fill their buckets; even small hotel businesses are forced to cancel their bookings.

Travel advisories have been issued asking tourists to avoid making a trip to Shimla. So much so, even the denizens of Shimla are leaving the town for their native villages, courtesy, the acute water crisis which has left them high and dry.
Suburban towns like Kasumpti in Shimla are the worst hit due to their remoteness, which has been making it tough for the water tankers to get access.

The hotels are reportedly disappointed. A lot of tourist reservations have been cancelled for the obvious reasons, and this unforeseen development has eaten up the share of profit hotels make at this time of the year.
About nine streams supply water from Shimla catchment sanctuary to Gumma, which is the main source for providing water throughout the city.
