Rajasthan was covered in a thick blanket of hail recently, which appeared to be snow much to the wonder of the beholders. Since all the North Indian regions including Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are already under a spell of snow, the hailstorm in Rajasthan turned the desert state into what looked like a snow-covered destination.
Reportedly, the recent hailstorm has caused harm to birds, livestock and other animals as well. Villages including Maulasar, Chhapri, Keechak in Nagaur witnessed the heaviest hailstorm, also leading to heavy damage to the farmers’ crops. Even the local transportation came to a halt as the roads were laden with thick hailstones.
The Met department told the press that the hailstorm and heavy rain in Rajasthan has been caused by the western disturbances that recently caused rain and snow even in Delhi and other parts of North India. District Ganganagar in Rajasthan received a maximum rainfall of 15.8 mm on Thursday, due to which temperature dipped to 8 degrees Celsius. As per the weather forecasts, parts of Rajasthan will also be under a thick fog cover in the coming days.
