Travellers seeking magnificent nightlife and restaurants should head to this town on the southern Pacific Coast. It is here where you will meet other travellers, learn how to surf and catch spectacular sunsets. San Juan del Sur is perhaps the most well-known tourist spot in Nicaragua and visitors should expect an abundance of hotels, restaurants, hostels and surf shops. It is this area where incredible sunsets take place over the crashing ocean waves, where barefoot bars blast music all night long and where travellers from all over the globe come to surf some of the greatest waves in Central America. The beaches just outside the town, Playa Maderas and Playa Hermosa, are known for their wonderful white sand and surfing hot spots. Sunday Funday is a legendary pool party/pub crawl that occurs every Sunday night in this city, so make sure to join if you are looking to meet new friends. Where you should stay depends on how much fun you want to have while you are here. Party goers will have no trouble finding a hostel while other travellers can easily find a more peaceful hotel or house rental.
