Sai Mandir

Not far from the Char Dham, in the Asangthang locality of Namchi, is a majestic temple of Sai Baba and other Hindu deities. An architectural endeavour of the Shirdi Sai Baba Trust of South Sikkim under the patronage of Government of Sikkim Tourism, it was opened for to the public on 3rd November 2010. The exterior of the temple has gold accents, while the interior has been built into two storeys with two halls on each floor. No entry ticket is charged for a visit, but the management would expect you to voluntarily shell out some money for temple’s maintenance. The ceiling of the hall on the first floor has been magnificently designed, and to the onlooker it looks like a planetarium. Upstairs there is a wonderful statue of Shirdi Sai Baba kept on an elevated platform. Also, Lord Shiva and his divine Family daily worship is offered to the presiding deities in the temple. Downstairs is the large prayer room where devotees offer prayers. The peace permeating this temple, its awe-inspiring décor etc. make it an ideal ground for kirtans and other religious functions.
