After coming up with a display centre at the Pune airport, the Tribal Research and Training Institute will offer a virtual tour of tribal museum located at Koregaon Park. This will provide the passengers at the airport to take delight in the amazing exhibits at the museum, and at the same time buy artefacts and handicrafts as soon as the system for purchase of products becomes operational.
The idea behind setting up the display centre is to promote Maharashtra’s tribal crafts and encourage their sale. “With the Pune airport now having a display centre, many passengers, including foreign tourists, will become aware of them. However, one cannot buy anything from this stall. We are in the process of designing a system to make it possible for people to buy the products. Things should take shape within three months," a news website quoted an official as saying.

Two more digital facilities will be established for air fliers at the Pune airport. A kiosk will be put up near the centre having an attached screen. The AVP of Pune-based Digital Art, Vikram Sharma, said that anyone keen on exploring the museum at Koregaon Park can do so at the Pune airport by manoeuvring through the kiosk’s screen. Interested passengers can choose the items they would like to buy and place an order. The institute will take the responsibility of getting the items delivered to the customers.
Another important trait of the kiosk will be the virtual reality feature, which is a special helmet to provide a person the feel of walking around in the real museum.
Many passengers so far have given a positive feedback to this new addition at the Pune airport.
