Railways plan to cut short Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah time duration by 5 hours!

Many travellers in India these days are opting for air travel instead of train owing to the long hours that a train takes from travelling one part of the country to another.

Now, reportedly, the Indian Railways has taken a significant step towards providing speedy service to passengers opting to travel in Rajdhani trains on the Delhi-Howrah and Delhi-Mumbai routes. While, the train takes 17 hours to cover the former route, it takes 16 hours to reach Mumbai from Delhi. Reportedly, the railways want to cut short the travel time on both the route by 5 hours, and this will be done once the speed of the trains is increased to 160 kmph
To achieve this goal, the railways have planned to invest INR 13500 crores. Reportedly, the project will likely be executed and finished within four years of obtaining the required approvals from the higher authorities. However, all the work related to it has to start maximum by August 31, 2019.

Once this project is completed, it will take only 12 hours to travel from Delhi to Howrah and 10 hours from Delhi to Mumbai. For passengers who would love to travel on both of these routes via Rajdhani train, this development would be welcome news.
