As per the latest news reports, the district police will also be keeping a close eye on waterfalls and two tourist spots that had been developed by the tourism department. Reportedly, the ban has been extended to Padale Dam, Ganesh Leni, and Siddhagad, along the sides of Malshej Ghat.
Although vehicular movements will continue on the said route, motorists will not be allowed to stop on the way to enjoy the weather, or to take selfies! On public holidays and weekends, police personnel will be keeping a watch on this area to avoid any casualties.
Referring to this development, an official said that around 35 police personnel will be patrolling the area around Malsej Ghat on weekends and holidays. The points marked by the MTDC will be under their watch, and some of the police personnel will not be in their official uniform to avoid identification!
Malshej Ghat, being one of the prominent attractions in Maharashtra, is quite popular among hikers, trekkers, and nature lovers. Located in the Western Ghats range in Pune district, it is a tourist hotspot that sits at an altitude of 700 m above the sea level. It turns quite charming in the monsoons, and trips have been banned till July end in public interest and safety.
