The principal secretary of the Tourism Department further informed that Govindgarh Fort in Rewa is undergoing renovation. This fort will also be converted into a heritage hotel by the end of 2019. The MP Tourism Department is working as of now on the lines of transforming six heritage properties into convention centres and hotels. It has also issued tender towards this goal for Tajmahal in Bhopal, Rajgarh Palace in Khajuraho, and Govindgarh fort in Rewa.
Referring to this context, Hariranjan added that this move comes in the wake of boosting tourism. Also, the number of visitors visiting Madhya Pradesh is on the rise, leading to 90 percent of tourism hotels remaining booked in almost all the seasons as compared to other states.
It is expected that these heritage hotels will play an important role in promoting tourism in Madhya Pradesh, which is likely to see a hike of around 25 percent of tourists visiting the state after these properties are thrown open for booking.
