Pura Luhur Lempuyang is one of the six holy places for worship. The temple is dedicated to the supreme god and is situated in East Bali at 1175 m above sea level. Located at the summit of Mount Lempuyang, the temple is also called The Temple of Thousand Steps. One has to climb 1700 steps to get to the temple. There are six smaller temples along the way to the main shrine. From the height of the temple, one can marvel the vistas with Pura Besakih tucked on terraced slopes and Mount Agung rising majestically from the green valley. Read less

There are six smaller temples along the way to the main shrine. From the height of the temple, one can marvel the vistas with Pura Besakih tucked on terraced slopes and Mount Agung rising majestically from the green valley. Beautiful coastline of Bali appears at the horizon as you climb up. The temple can be part of adventure cum cultural excursion. One needs to be really fit to climb these steps. Balinese pay pilgrimage to Pura Lempuyang Luhur and believe that if you complain while climbing, you will never reach the top! The view from the top is priceless is only reserved for the devoted ones!
